Amazing. Be honest. Do you really believe what you just wrote or is this just a fun way to get Oilers fans rattled and the hit totals up. - systemtool

The Oilers have all their draft picks, excessive talent on the forwards, and around 20 million available in real space or from paying losers.
They also already have a really good team.
So what did I say that is even borderline unbelievable? Even after the two trades, I state that those are just examples of what they could do with boldness and creativity.
So, yeah, I believe it 100% and I find it crazy that anyone would even doubt a single word of this gospel. |

Darnell Nurse and a 1st for Trouba?
Why would you give Nolan Patrick and Nurse for a burgeoning defenseman? |

I see what you did there, but the Oilers are the current Western Favorite, so I highly doubt their going to finish in the lottery. I would put there chances of repeating last years' Mr Burns Softball Team-style injury bonanza at zero percent, exactly the same odds of them missing the Playoffs.

Thru gross incompetence the Oilers are in a position to move assets, but they need dance partners. |

Gross incompetence has given them one of the best rosters in the NHL, I think we can agree on that. |

The Oilers are the Western Conference favourites? For what, sucking less than they have in recent years? If you mean they are the favourites to win the conference, then I need to ask which odds maker you are referencing? |

Klembom-Larsson
Lindholm - Trouba
Would be awesome, but there are rumors that Trouba wants a tonne of cash (and he doesn't deserve that at this point). I'd offer him something similar to what Klefbom/Larsson make... Not 6 or 7 million.
And hopefully McDavid puts the team first and takes a discount like Crosby does. |

Nurse and a 1st ? All day long, that pick could be top 5 easily. This amazing Oiler team your describing doesn't exist and may not for a couple of years. The D-core depth 4-7 is very suspect.
Today they don't appear to be a playoff team at all IMO. A lot of great pieces for sure. Lucic needs to prove he can keep up with MacDavid , no small task. And the other grit Kassian needs to prove he can stay in the league. |

Chasing trouba should certainly be on the Menu . And I think your proposed price is reasonable too
But as good as lindholm is, that's overkill. Especially since we have sekera who can help short term and possibly be moved for cap relief.
Not to mention the oilers are potentially strong on the right side, but with yaks and pulju, it's also potentially a huge problem. Gutting our right side by moving eberle now hurts for a few reasons. Not to mention we're already a low scoring team that just moved hall

You're current western favourite. *
So easy to ignore the fact that the top two Right Wingers on that team have awful backchecking tendencies and will disappear for stretches when the season starts to sour.
But yeah, this is click-bait. The Oil will likely improve a bit this year. Not a 20 point increase though. Turns out injuries occur when your team's core is under 24 and most have been in the show since 18. |

There's some truth to this, but the inference of having young players in your NHL lineup instead of putting them in the ahl first, leads to injuries, is such a silly contention. For so many reasons. The least of which of course is it's not at all factual
nuge would have stronger knuckle bones if he spent some time in the ahl first and wouldn't have broken his hand getting hit by a slap shot last season |

Ok. So by your logic Tanner, written in your article, you basically break it down like this.
Trouba for Nurse and a 2019 1st rounder and a 2018 2nd rounder.
Lindholm for Eberle and a 2018 1st rounder and a 2019 second rounder.
I get the picks could be different years, but you state Edmonton player X + 1st + 2nd(+) for player Y (Ducks/Jets). That means the Oilers have no first or second round picks for the next 2 years. They could just fire half of their scouts in this scenario.
Sometimes logic isn't one of your strong suits James... |

Last year was a series of weird injuries I'll admit. It's definitely an inference and I guess we'll know for certain in a few years.
Every 1st overall pick by the Oil has missed substantial time from injuries at some point. That is the basis of my inference. |

There's more than 2 rounds in the draft... Plus, who is to say that additional picks will not be acquired through trades?
